A mushroom garden in a bucket… it doesn’t get any easier than that! The Fungipail takes the mystery out of mushroom farming so you can enjoy mushrooms’ nutritional and medicinal properties right at your home.
This practical bucket fruits 2 or 3 times (sometimes even 4!) producing up to a total of 3 lbs of fresh gourmet mushrooms in the course of 3 months. And if you are aware of how light mushrooms are, you know that 3 lbs is A LOT of mushroom’! The best part is that you can reuse the bucket over and over by ordering refills. And we offer many “flavors” of Oyster Mushrooms, many of which you won’t find easily in the supermarket.
The Fungipail has been designed to produce maximum yield with minimum effort. When you bring your first kit home, you don’t have to do anything else than provide the right amount of light and humidity.
To trigger fruiting, increase humidity 15 days after the spawning date, by misting the outside of the bucket and around the holes 2-3 times a day. Once the Fungipail starts fruiting, mist the mushroom caps until they are shinning but not dripping.
Fungipails fruit just about anywhere but require at least 65% humidity to produce the best quality mushrooms. That is why the bathroom is a great place to keep your pail. Other good places to keep your Fungipail are the kitchen, outdoors hanging in porches or trees, or in the garden, underneath a shrub. Just chose the place where you are more likely to remember to mist often.
Otherwise the mushrooms will fruit from the top of the bucket, producing lots of little pins but very few full grown mushrooms.
Water will evaporate creating a humid microclimate.
If your Fungipail is in a place with no windows, leave the room light on during the day.
Spray the mushroom caps until they are shiny but not dripping.
Mushrooms breathe through their skin, so too much water will suffocate them. Provide fresh air also.
And let us know if you have a question that hasn’t been answered. Chances are that somebody else is wondering the same thing and we are here to to make Mushroom Farming easy and fun.
The substrate will dry out and may not fruit again.
The substrate contains enough moisture for successful fruiting. The purpose of misting outside the bucket is to raise the humidity of the environment.
That means not extreme heat or cold, dryness or humidity. Don’t place the bucket in drafty areas, near AC’s, heaters fireplaces or woodstoves.
